1. The app

Folium is a local-first personal knowledge management application. It is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.

2. License

Folium is a one-time purchase. For direct downloads, a license key is valid on up to 4 devices; you can free a slot via the Lemon Squeezy customer portal or the Deactivate option in the app. A 14-day fully-featured free trial is available. The license is perpetual for the purchased version, updates included. Future major versions may be sold separately. Activation requires internet access; paid licenses are revalidated online at least every 30 days. If verification cannot complete, reading, search and export remain available while editing waits for revalidation. This is a summary — the full license text is in the LICENSE file shipped with the app.

Paid app-store editions use the store’s purchase and installation system. They do not require a Lemon Squeezy license key or use the direct-download trial. Their price, device availability and purchase restoration are shown by the store where you purchase them.

3. Refunds

Purchases come with a 30-day no-questions refund from the purchase date. Sales are handled by Lemon Squeezy (the merchant of record); to request a refund, contact support@folium.ink.

4. Your data

• You retain full ownership of all content you create with the app.
• Your content is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for your own backups. The app provides backup/export and optional sync (GitHub, iCloud, or Google Drive) features, but the authors are not liable for any data loss.
• If you enable sync, your use of the provider you chose (GitHub, Apple iCloud, or Google Drive) is governed by that provider’s own Terms of Service, and you are responsible for the remote location you sync to (including keeping it private if the content is sensitive).

5. Acceptable use

You may use the app for any lawful purpose. You may not use it to store or distribute content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the authors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data — arising from your use of the app.

7. Third-party components

The app bundles third-party open-source components; their licenses are listed on the licenses page and apply to those components.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts of Istanbul have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated; material changes will be noted in the CHANGELOG. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance.
